Moldova Weather is greatly influenced by its proximity to the Black Sea. In other words, weather in Moldova is temperate continental, characterized by mild short winters and long hot summers.
Located in a zone with a temperate continental climate approximately half way between the Equator and North Pole, Moldova Weather is also blessed with four easily defined seasons and with western warm, often changing to humid, and air masses from the Atlantic being another influence on its patterns.
Moldova Weather temperatures during the long and warm summer season average about 20°C, although it’s not uncommon to soar to a sizzling 40°C when the occasional heat wave puts the country under its spell. Although summer rainfalls are usually short in duration, in most cases they are also heavy and ferocious, occasionally even causing local flooding, erosion and river silting. In the area near the coastline of the Black Sea, rainfalls are even heavier often taking the form of severe thunderstorms.
Heavy rainfalls make another grand appearance during the month of October. Otherwise,
Moldova Weather during the autumn season remains rather warm and because of its longevity retains the moniker ‘Indian summer”. By November though, temperatures dip considerably, usually veering between 3°C to 5°C.
Understandably, winter in Moldova is cold and chilly with temperatures staying mostly bellow the freezing point line, often reaching lows between -3°C to 5°C. Moldova Weather during springtime is virtually impossible to predict, despite the fact that the number of sunny days and the mean air temperature is rising. Temperatures in May hover around the 15°C mark decreasing the risk of late frosts.
Annual precipitation varies greatly from north to south and long dry spells are too expected especially during the summer season.
